It's April Fool's Day !!!

Unlike most of the other non-foolish days , the history of April Fool's day is totally unclear as to how it came about . To my knowledge and understanding as I have read somewhere , it presumbly says that April Fool's day was considered the first day of the month of the year. Yes , you got me right - it was considered as New Year .The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France.With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to January 1.

Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fool's Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fool's Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees.

April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!

So it's practically not-clear as to how the existence of April Fool's day came about. I remember once back during my high school days , during our English language class , we were all asked to present a story that is in a story-telling format. But there was this fellow student who went up to the front of the class and starting talking about how April Fool's day came about. I thought I was the only one who heard it wrongly but even the teacher had to point out her mistake for not being able to differentiate between a strory-telling and history making. Anyhow , I'm happy to say that no one was successful in fooling me today. Yeap , I was very much alert indeed the whole day through. Leaving you behind to ponder on the words of Mark Twain who once said " LET US BE THANKFUL FOR THE FOOLS . BUT FOR THEM THE REST OF US COULD NOT SUCCEED " .
