Something worth reminding myself about......................

An article from Waiting for your Boaz post via Facebook

Dear not-so-distant future self ,

You'll be reading this letter a couple of times during this day, this week, this month - maybe even the rest of your life. It's important that you keep reading it, though. There are things you need to remember, things you tend to let yourself forget because you love wallowing in self pity. These are important things - things you'll need to remember if you're going to keep try to keep your dignity and self respect intact.

First of all, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a creation of the Living God, planned before your conception, chosen before your birth. He chose you, He knitted you together in your mother's womb, and He's been developing you ever since. Don't ever break yourself down, or speak negatively of God's work of art that is you - body, mind, and soul. Everything you've been through, every path you've chosen, every mistake you've made - it has all worked together in God's Greater Plan to bri
ng you exactly to where you are today.

This is the second point. Where you are right now is no coincidence, no random collision of circumstances, no mistake. You are exactly where God needs you and wants you to be. Believe it. Live it. Stop being timid and scared, and stop blending into the background. Step up, take a stand, and listen to His voice to determine what it is you need to do next. Let yourself be led by the One who knows all, and who loves you above all, so He may let you make the best decisions for yourself.

Last but not least ;

Let go of the past and the regrets. Banish the should haves, the would haves, the could haves from your thoughts. The time has passed, and the lessons have been learnt. There are two types of problems from the past - situations with a bit of wear & tear, and situations which were shattered. The first will require you to spit, polish, shine, and work to fix the damage. After you're done, you'll have to be determined to live with the fixer-upper. Don't regret, don't long for the way it was - just be grateful that you still have whatever it is that got damaged. When situations or relationships are shattered - don't trick yourself into thinking you can still fix them. Glueing together a million little pieces will take much more effort that the second-rate product of the fixing will be worth. Get rid of the pieces, and move on with your life. Forgive, but do not forget - lessons learned through blood, sweat, tears and disappointment are worth their weight in gold.

Love yourself - all your flaws, all your strengths, everything. Thank the God who makes it possible for you to keep living through the worst, and seek His fingerprints in your life daily. He is the One whose plans for you will exceed your wildest dreams. Don't ever give up - the race isn't over yet. You've still got a lot to learn.

All my love ,

The scarily-objective-and-clear-minded present self.
